Principal

Ian has served in Christian education since 2004, first as a teacher, then sports administrator, deputy principal and finally principal.  Since 2012 he has been responsible for implementing the Ambleside approach at The Vine School.  Under his leadership the school has rapidly grown, both in student numbers and in faithfulness to the Ambleside philosophy and ideals. He has attended several Principals' Retreats at the ASI head office in the USA and is one of a small group of South African educators participating in the Master Teacher Training Programme.  He has a pastor's heart and supports many pupils and their families through counselling and prayer.

Deputy Principal

Gina has thirteen years' experience as a teacher and another ten as a stay-at-home mother of three daughters, who all attended our school. She loves helping new teachers to adapt to the Ambleside approach. 

 

Pre-Kindergarten

Berni taught preschoolers for 14 years and finds the Ambleside approach fits her teaching style.  She takes care to lay a solid foundation for our students' future success.

Kindergarten & HOD

Jean has an extensive background in teaching younger age groups. Her passion is to help young children develop in their knowledge of God’s world, and their ability to flourish in it. Jean has two children who attend the Vine.

Kindergarten

Dayle has two decades of teaching experience in preschool and grade 1. She is a natural nurturer with a heart for children and has come to really value Charlotte Mason's approach to teaching.

Grade 1

Tanya has a background in Art and Psychology as well as being a teacher. The Ambleside philosophy resonates with her natural inclination to bring up balanced children by introducing them to a variety of academic, cultural and spiritual topics. 

Grade 1

Elouise loves bringing out the best in the whole child. She has found that Charlotte Mason's principles, such as forming good habits, affect every aspect of life. Even great ideas are grasped more readily.

Grade 2

Nadia loves working with younger children and establishing sound values in their lives. She is an experienced sports coach and a keen runner, and brings a sense of peaceful discipline and determination to her classroom

Grade 2 

Rebekah studied theology at the Bible Institute of SA before completing a PGCE. She has a passion for discipling and teaching children a Christian worldview and believes the Bible has the power to change the life of every person.

Grade 3

Gabi is in her 5th year of teaching at The Vine. She has shown a deep understanding of Charlotte Mason's philosophy and applies the Ambleside method diligently in the classroom. Her zest for life and love of learning bubbles over into her teaching. 

Grade 3

Monique worked and studied part time to achieve her goal of becoming a teacher.  Her experience of patient perseverance helps her to encourage her pupils when they are tempted to give up. Her next goal is to study educational psychology.

Grade 4

Chloé taught in Thailand for three years where her love for teaching was ignited. While completing her studies she  worked as a facilitator at Bishops Prep School. She is excited to be starting her teaching career at The Vine School.

Grade 5

Tracey has been teaching at our school for many years! Her cheerful spirit, determination, loyalty and years of experience are a great blessing. Many students testify to the impact she made in their lives.

Grade 6

Michelle taught at Wynberg Girls Junior School before starting a school for supportive education. At The Vine School she loves encouraging students to explore subjects thoroughly and to develop their relational lives.

Grade 7

Lance has more than 20 years experience in teaching and educational leadership, including 3 years in the Middle East where he taught at an independent boys school. He especially enjoys teaching Maths and Science. 

Art

Pippa is a lifelong art enthusiast and has dedicated many years to this subject. She believes that all children are capable of learning and understanding the creative process enables her to encourage and draw out the best in each one.

Physical Education

Allen trained at the Bible Institute before realising his calling to be a teacher. He has developed an outstanding physical education program and also teaches Afrikaans. 

Intern 

Kim holds a Bachelors in Theology and is a qualified Personal Trainer. Before joining The Vine School, he served as a Children and Youth Pastor. While working at our school, he’s pursuing a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.

Xhosa Teacher and Preschool Assistant

Thora is fulfilling a life-long ambition to become a preschool teacher.  She completed an internship and Certificate in Early Childhood Development and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Education.

Inspirational Subjects

Charlene served as the school's secretary for 20 years before discovering her natural gifting as a firm, loving Ambleside teacher. 

Librarian

Margaret served as a library volunteer for many years while still a parent at the school.  Her steady, careful work and kind spirit is a blessing in the library.

Aftercare Assistant

Lauren is a past parent at the school and returned to devote her strong organisational skills and love for children to serve in several roles.  She assists in the aftercare in the mornings and afternoons. 

Assistant Librarian

Daphne's considerable organisational skills together with her warm, outgoing nature make visits to the library a pleasure.

Relief Teacher

Lara taught at The Vine School before deciding to focus on being a full-time mom to her three boys. She is always willing to fill in for an absent teacher.

Aftercare Supervisor

Iris Reuter has over 15 years of teaching experience. She has taught at both high school and primary school level. She is  a lifelong learner with a great desire to see children coming to know Christ our Lord.

Aftercare Assistant

Olivia has 10 years experience in educare. She loves working with children who give her joy. She believes that working at The Vine School is a blessing from God.
